Jordan Numbering Association celebrates the 25th anniversary of its founding
On behalf of His Excellency the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Mr. Youssef Al-Shamali, Mr. Abdel Fattah Al-Kayed, Executive Director of the Jordanian Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO), sponsored the Jordan Numbering Association celebration of its silver jubilee on Monday, 10/2/2023, in the presence of a number of officials and representatives of economic sectors. The celebration included two dialogue sessions on the development of the Authority, the future of business, and international standards in the industrial and commercial sectors, in which a number of local, Arab and foreign specialists spoke, in addition to presenting a group of success stories in barcode applications for major companies and factories in Jordan. At the end of the celebration, companies that had passed the year were honored. It has been in existence for 25 years and has 62 companies.
Training for Al Kasih Food Manufacturing Company
The Jordan Numbering Association held a training workshop for a staff from the Kasih Food Manufacturing Co for the purposes of familiarizing themselves with and keeping up with local and international legislative requirements and for the purpose of exporting to foreign markets, including requirements related to data related to barcode technology, its types, technical characteristics, and how to print it, whether on final products, shipping units, or units. Jordan Numbering Association participated in the workshop hosted by the Egyptian Numbering Association during the month of August about the electronic invoice system in Egypt. Completion of printing press program accredited by the Jordan Numbering Association
Jordan Numbering Association completed the activities of the training program “A printing press approved the Jordan Numbering Association,” which was held in cooperation with the Amman Chamber of Industry and in partnership with the packaging, paper, cardboard and office supplies industries sector and with the National Center for Packaging and Packaging, which continued for two days, the 25th and 26th of July.. It targeted printing presses and entities working in the field of printing and design for the purpose of learning about the optimal use of GS 1 standards.. The training program included the most important technical rules that must be followed during the printing or design stages, which ensures the safety and quality of printing.. In turn, the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Jordan Numbering Association and the representative of the therapeutic industries and medical supplies sector in the Chamber of Industry, Dr. Fadi Al-Atrash, confirmed during the opening of the workshop that was held at the headquarters of the European Jordanian Institute for Business Development (Ejabi), the training arm, that Jordan Numbering Association is seeking to accredit a number of compliant printing presses. According to international standards for numbering to facilitate the various sectors, the most important of which is the industrial sector, the importance of spreading awareness about the technical mechanisms for printing barcodes on the primary and secondary packaging of products, to ensure the availability of correct data and to protect the products from tampering, in addition to the technical specifications necessary to facilitate the process of reading the barcode and the health and quality of the mechanisms used by the printing presses. Also, the representative of the packaging, paper, cardboard, and office supplies industries sector, Muhammad Al-Safadi, pointed out that 20 printing presses and companies specializing in printing on paper, cardboard, and packaging have been approved for inclusion in a golden list approved by the Jordanian Numbering Authority to implement the international (GS1) standards, in addition to many advantages. Which applies to different sectors. At the end of the program, Mr. Muhammad Zwanah, Executive Director of Jordan Numbering Association, gave a brief presentation on the advantages of this program, stressing the importance of cooperation between the industrial and commercial sectors and the role of Jordan Numbering Association in providing its services to the sectors for the purposes of enabling them to meet requirements locally and internationally.. On the sidelines of the program, a visit was made to the National Center for Packaging and Packaging (JOPack), where the director of the center, Mr. Yousef Abu Attia, provided a detailed explanation of the center’s services.. At the conclusion of the program, the representative of the packaging, paper, cardboard and office supplies industries sector at the Jordan Chamber of Industry, Mr. Muhammad Al-Safadi, distributed certificates and shields to the participants.. It is noteworthy that the “Printing Press Accredited by Jordan Numbering Association” program will take place through a partnership between Jordan Numbering Association and the participating printing presses, which numbered 20 printing presses, which were approved on a golden list that will be circulated to member companies through the company’s official and social channels. In addition to a phase A second part of the program will be announced later. The Jordan Numbering Association is considered the only national authority responsible for managing all operations related to the coding of products, places, assets, and services in Jordan, and one of the companies wholly owned by the Jordan Enterprise Development Cooperation.
A symposium entitled the importance of packaging in the food sector and future trends
The Executive Director of Jordan Numbering Association participated in the symposium that was held at the Jordan Enterprise Development Cooperation on Saturday, 6/10/2023, entitled “The Importance of Packaging in the Food Sector and Future Trends,” with the participation of a representative of the packaging sector in the Jordan Chamber of Industry and representatives of the Jordanian Centre for Packaging and Packaging and the Foundation. The General Food and Drug Administration, the Standards and Metrology Organization, and the General Director of Box Company. During the symposium, a brief explanation was given about the important role of barcodes to empower the food sector and its importance for packaging operations within The international standards used and ensuring the quality and correctness of barcode printing on food products are in addition to the most important services provided by the Jordan Numbering Association to companies operating in the packaging sector.

A workshop entitled definition, coding and electronic services standards
Among the activities of the Jordan Numbering Association to achieve our vision of being an accredited national reference for leading and empowering various sectors and adopting the application of the global system of standards efficiently and effectively, the Customer Services Department presented a workshop entitled “Standards for Definition, Coding and Electronic Services” that targeted member companies and singled out newly affiliated companies. The workshop was attended by More than 50 entities learned about the global system of standards and services provided by the Jordan Numbering Association and how they can be used to improve the quality of industrial outputs and increase the efficiency of supply chains for these entities and institutions.

Participation in the investment conference within the framework of the economic movement vision
The Jordan Numbering Association participated in the investment conference within the framework of the economic modernization vision under the auspices of Speaker of the House of Representatives Ahmed Al-Safadi. The work of the investment conference within the framework of the economic modernization vision was launched in Amman on Saturday, which was organized by the Yasmeen Foundation with the participation of a number of heads of parliamentary committees and specialists in the investment and economic sectors. The Mayor of Amman and the Emirati Ambassador to the Kingdom participated in the conference, speaking on aspects of the Jordanian-Emirati partnership in the field of investment, and a number of economic specialists, including former ministers, members of boards of directors, general managers, heads of the Finance, Economics, Investment, and Legal Committees in the House of Representatives, and the President of the Men’s Association. Jordanian businessmen and the president of the chambers of commerce in Amman and Jordan, in addition to a number of specialists. The conference discussed the role of investment in stimulating growth opportunities, promoting innovation, and facing global challenges, and Oman is a healthy city, the role of developing the transportation sector in stimulating the national economy, and the legal, financial, and economic aspects of attracting investment to achieve development, and the sustainability of economic projects.
In cooperation with the Irbid Chamber of Industry, the Jordanian Numbering Association organized a workshop entitled: “25 years of the Jordanian barcode, an empowering tool for the industrial and commercial sectors in Jordan.” This took place at the Irbid Chamber of Industry office in Al-Hassan Industrial City in Irbid Governorate. This workshop comes within a series of introductory workshops targeting the governorates of the Kingdom to achieve the equation of geographical inclusion to introduce the Authority and the services provided. Many representatives of the industrial and commercial sectors in the northern region participated in this workshop.
Signing an agreement with the Ministry of Education
The Ministry of Education, the Government Procurement Department, the Jordan Numbering Association, and the Technical Support Program for the Education and Youth Sectors TAP/USAID signed, on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, in the Ministry’s building, a cooperation agreement to implement the school supplies tracking project of the Ministry of Education. The Minister of Education, Prof. Dr. Azmy Mohafaza, who signed the agreement, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Ministry for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Najwa Qubeilat, said that we in the ministry are pleased to be part of the contribution to the establishment of projects that contribute to raising the efficiency of administrative procedures. The agreement was signed by the Director General of the Governmental Procurement Department, Mrs. Hanadi Talaat Al-Nabulsi, while it was signed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Ahmed Tarawneh, on behalf of the Jordan Numbering Association. Dr. Azmy Muhafaza explained that this project seeks to develop the inventory management at the ministry in accordance with the best international practices, which is what the ministry seeks to do in automating projects and raising efficiency in all departments. Mr. Ahmed Al-Tarawneh, Chairman of the Board of Directors, stated that the Jordanian Numbering Assocation is fully prepared to cooperate with the Ministry of Education to provide and build a tracking system for school books in accordance with the international GS1 standards, which ensures an increase in the efficiency of the supply chain between all concerned parties, enabling them to share their data in an accurate, reliable, and approved way. It contributes to reducing the distances between business partners, improves performance, and increases the health and safety of the procedures followed in accordance with the best international practices. Al-Tarawneh stressed that building this system according to GS1 standards and its application can be considered as a success story at the local level, with the possibility of applying it on a wider scale than the official authorities locally, especially since these standards are applicable due to their suitability with any other technical systems. Mrs. Hanadi Al-Nabulsi indicated the necessity of implementing these projects that help in raising the level of transparency and saving in the consumption of resources and expenditures at the ministry level. It is mentioned that the project will apply the barcoding system for textbooks to track the stages of receiving, storing and distributing textbooks, so that books, warehouses, schools and supplier sites will be encoded and defined, and thus the system will be able to identify the required elements and read events in real time, through the application of international coding standards (GS1 Standard), which will cover the scope of the project and all stages of procurement operations (starting from purchase requisitions, bidding conditions and purchase orders, all the way to the main or subsidiary warehouses, tracking their movements and optimal inventory management until they are in the hands of the requester).

Jordan Numbering Association (GS1 Jordan) participated in a workshop on food traceability instructions, held in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) / World Bank Group and the American Chamber of Commerce. It is worth mentioning that this workshop serves as the final event in a series of draft workshops on food traceability guidelines in Jordan.
